Broken Glass Product Defect Causes Severe Wrist Injury Shown Through 3D Animation

In product liability and personal injury cases, Mechanism of Injury animations can add an important visual layer by showing how an incident physically produced the injuries being claimed. By recreating the position of the person, the product, and the point of contact, these animations help present the sequence of events alongside the resulting anatomical damage in one continuous visual explanation.

This case involved a severe left wrist injury caused by a large five-gallon glass water jug. While the client was carrying the jug, the glass broke and a sharp fragment contacted the volar side of the wrist, creating a deep laceration. The injury involved multiple flexor tendons in the forearm and wrist, along with lacerations to the ulnar nerve and ulnar artery.

MotionLit developed a 3D Mechanism of Injury animation to recreate the incident and show how the broken glass contacted the wrist. The animation first established the client’s position while carrying the jug, then moved into a close-up view of the moment the glass penetrated the wrist. From there, the presentation transitioned beneath the skin to show the path of injury through the underlying anatomy.

The animation identified the affected flexor tendons, while also calling out the associated ulnar nerve and artery injuries. By moving from the external incident into the internal anatomy, the animation connected the physical contact with the specific structures damaged during the event.

For cases involving complex injuries caused by product defects, Mechanism of Injury animations can help attorneys clearly demonstrate how the product, point of contact, forces, and body physics contributed to the resulting trauma. These visuals can complement expert analysis, medical records, and testimony by presenting the incident and injury mechanics as one cohesive sequence for mediation, settlement, or trial.

If your case involves a unique mechanism of injury, MotionLit can develop a custom animation that visually connects the incident to the resulting anatomical damage. Contact our team to discuss your next case.
